ی laptop

The OQO model 01 ultra personal computer (uPC) is a fully-functional Windows XP computer. The OQO has a 1GHz processor, a 20GB hard drive, 256MB of RAM, a color transflective display, and integrated wireless, as well as Fire Wire and USB ports. It is powerful enough to run your most complex applications.
Just 4.9 inches long, 3.4 inches wide, .9 inches thin, and weighing only 14 ounces, the OQO can fit in a pocket or purse and go with you anywhere. For easy typing and cursor control it has a complete thumb keyboard with TrackStik and mouse buttons as well as digital pen and thumbwheel. It is the much anticipated device for people who previously had to choose between the bulk and awkwardness of a laptop and the limited capability of a PDA.

The hybrid device promises to combine internet, email, phone and MP3 functions. It is priced at 299, plus an additional 30 connection charge.

Mobile internet access is charged at 7.99 a month, with data and voice calls costing 10p a minute and SMS 10p per message.

The Pogo was designed and developed by British firm, Pogo Technology.

They say its sets itself apart because it has been designed to appeal to the youth market, rather than business users.

It also uses data compression technology that squeezes web pages to a fifth of their original size.

This, the company claims, makes for browsing quicker than previously possible on prevailing GSM mobile networks.

the Poma is a wearable PC that will enchant anyone with its sleek and stylish looks. The heart of the system is the main unit, which houses the CPU and the battery in an ultra cool silver colored case that is only slightly bigger than a Pocket PC. A head mounted eyepiece, which connects to the main unit, looks like it came right out of a sci-fi movie and can provide 640 x 480 resolution in full color. Finally, an optical pointing device allows you to navigate through the system like you do with a mouse or a track ball. The amazing thing is, the total weight of this unit weighs in just less than 1 pound.

Looking inside the Poma, you will find a Hitachi 128mhz RISC CPU running on the Win CE operating system. Back this up with 64 megs of memory and a type II compact flash slot and you have a rather powerful computer that will allow you to listen to MP3s, surf the web, and even check your e-mail. The Poma is not web enabled but it can be with a WiFi compact flash card or wireless modem card.

The OS is fully updatable however, and software can be developed by third parties, which between them will undoubtedly solve the problem in time

Back to its web browsing capabilities. Utilising a proprietary compression technology it is possible to achieve speeds comparable to that of a 56K modem, albeit with more limited accessibility. There are sites and technology that remain inaccessible, and obviously, downloading or streaming is not currently possible. But the vast majority of sites load without trouble, and are perfectly readable.

Back in March of last year, Samsung announced plans to introduce the SGH-i750, a new Pocket PC phone (http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=8906#).
Almost a year later, the FCC is just now approving this device for use in the United States.
While still relatively advanced, the long delay means that the i750 will run Windows Mobile (http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=8906#) 2003 SE, not the latest version.
http://www.brighthand.com/images/Samsung_i750_1_S.jpg (http://www.brighthand.com/articles/pictures.php?imageURL=Samsung_i750_1_L.jpg&imageTitle=Samsung%20i750&leadAdVar=PocketPC&largeAdVar=PocketPC) Still, it will include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well and support for GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks (900/1800/1900 MHz).
This Pocket PC (http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=8906#) will sport a 2.0 megapixel camera and a microSD card slot.
Other recent models have used a design that allows the screen to slide up to expose a keypad. The i730 will be somewhat similar, except it will instead have a numberpad concealed beneath its QVGA screen.
It is not known at this point when the SGH-i750 will be released by Samsung, or what it will cost.
The complete Federal Communications Commission filing can be found on this government agency's web (https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/cf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=605300&fcc_id='A3LSGHI750')

Rumor: E-TEN M600+ Pocket PC phone is coming soon
May 24, 2006 [Pocket PC phone]
Evolution, not revolution...

E-TEN M600+ will supposedly have the following improvements over old E-TEN M600: 256MB of Flash ROM (instead of 128 MB), a 2.0 Megapixels Camera (instead of 1.3 Megapixel) and Bluetooth 2.0 (instead of 1.2). Other specifications the same as of E-TEN M600:

processor from Samsung 400 MHz

support for GSM/GPRS but no UMTS/EDGE

full size SD card slot

a bit thicker than competition from HTC, size: 111.7 x 60.7 x 22 mm and weight: 174 g

i-mate certainly wasn't going to wait around while O2 got all the attention yesterday (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/index.php?action=expand,48890). According to information posted at On the Go Solutions (http://www.imatephonestore.com/product.asp?itemMDL=IMATE_jasjam#), the HTC Hermes will be introduced by i-mate as the JASJAM with the following specs: a 300MHz CPU, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, a 2.1-megapixel camera, quad-band GSM/GPRS/UMTS/HSDPA support, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, and Windows Mobile (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/index.php?action=expand,48912#) 5.0. Obviously, nothing is final at this stage, so we'll keep our eyes open for some concrete evidence in the weeks to come.

"While it's neither official released yet nor O2 Germany has given a press release, the device, formerly known as 'O2 Xda (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/index.php?action=expand,48890#) Hermes,' appeared now in O2's own web shop as 'O2 Xda trion.'"

http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/salgado-o2xdatrion.jpg

Yes, it seems to be with a lowercase 't.' Arne at the::unwired points us to a page on O2's German website (http://shop2.o2online.de/o2/interessenten/necos/details/index.html?articleId=04&salesChannel=SHOP) showing a very sleek-looking HTC Hermes branded with their O2 (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/index.php?action=expand,48890#) logo and with some updated specs: 400MHz processor (yay!), Bluetooth 2.0, and AKU2 out of the box. Arne goes to add that A2DP Stereo Bluetooth will also be available, as well as quadband EDGE/UMTS with upgradability to HSDPA. Now, we're just waiting for i-mate, Qtek, and possibly Cingular to follow suit with some information for their versions of the Hermes, and I think we're looking at some more good times ahead!

UBiQUiO 501 Pocket PC Phone

http://www.mobilewhack.com/images/ubiquio_501_1-thumb.jpg (http://www.mobilewhack.com/images/ubiquio_501_1.jpg)The new UBiQUiO 501 Smartphone promises functionality and style thanks to its ergonomically designed body and its black/silver color combination. The smartphone measures just 1.4cm thick and is just a little bulky when compared to the Moto Q. Using Windows Mobile 5.0 as its operating system and running on a 200MHz Texas Instruments OMAP 750 processor, the 501 does indeed looks promising.
The handset is outfitted with a 2.5in, 320 x 240, 65,536-colour display and there is also the all important camera with a resolution of 2.0 megapixels. Connectivty options include; GSM/GPRS, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 1.2. The 501 also sports a QWERTY keyboard and is powered by a 1,250mAh battery. It should retail for $567, but when is anyones guess!

Pantech IM-U140 DMB Handset

http://www.mobilewhack.com/images/IM-U140%28front%29-thumb.jpg (http://www.mobilewhack.com/images/IM-U140%28front%29.jpg)Pantech Group has launched a pretty cool DMB phone which is quite a relief from the usual clamshells, candybars etc. The new IM-U140 handset is a Satellite DMB Phone which will surely get second and third looks for its 2.6-inch wide QVGA LCD which has a pop up sliding design. When it comes to features the handset combines the functionality of a DMB player and a cell phone. Thus expect features like MP3 Player, Video Player, and TV Broadcasts etc.
Another feature worth mentioning is the 3 megapixel camera with built-in image stabilization which is as good as some point and shoot digicams! If you thought thats it, boy are you in for a surprise! The mobile handset is also PictBridge compatible which lets you print directly from a PictBridge printer and thus makes the redundant!
The Sky IM-U140 is also equipped with 4 channel stereo speakers and has a touch screen interface with vibration reaction! Told you this phone is pretty cool! Measuring 119 x 53 x 23.2 mm and weighing 157.7grams, this one ain't exactly slim, but with such novel features I am sure the user wont mind! For now it shall not leave the beautiful Korean countryside where it would be available soon. To get all the lowdown on this trend-setting handset head
over to the Pantech (http://www.mobilewhack.com/reviews/www.pantech.com)website
Seoul, South Korea - September 6, 2006: Pantech Group, the number two mobile phone manufacturer in South Korea, today announced the launch of the IM-U140 handset, a satellite digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) handset that provides users with a genuinely unique mobile phone experience via its innovative designed display screen.

The LCD display is designed to pop up automatically at a 30 degree angle when users push a button next to the screen, optimizing users angle of view. The display adds significantly to users enjoyment of movies and TV programs, maximizing the user-friendly nature of the phone. The 2.6-inch wide QVGA LCD is the largest display featured on a DMB handset in Korea, further augmenting the portable TV viewing experience.

M.S. Yoon, Executive Vice President, Domestic Marketing, Pantech Group, said: Due to its exceptional range of unique features, including the pop-up display screen, we expect that the IM-U140 will be welcomed by those mobile phone users who are looking for new and different features and applications in their DMB phones.

In line with our brand slogan - Its different - we are always seeking to regenerate and refine our product line, and the IM-U140 is just the latest stage in this constantly evolving customer commitment. For example, we have designed the touch screen on the IM-U140 model so that it vibrates when touched, enhancing the overall unique feel of the phone, said Mr. Yoon.

The IM-U140 features four channel stereo speakers, enabling users to enjoy a richer quality of sound when they watch the mobile TV or play mobile games. In addition, the handset features a 3 megapixel camera with useful modes such as image stabilization, auto focus and white balance, providing users with higher picture quality.

The new model also has PictBridge functionality, which enables the transmission of photos directly from the handset to printers. Other user-friendly features include an MP3 player and electronic dictionary.

The IM-U140 handset will become available in Korea this month and will be marketed under Pantechs SKY brand, the leading premium mobile phone brand in the Korean market.

ی یی ǘ ی ی O2.

http://www.mobilewhack.com/O2%20Xda%20Stealth%20WM5.0%20slider_phone.JPG

The O2 Xda Stealth phone is simple on the outside and complex in the inside, it's also a new cellphone that only Cnet had the chance to get a sneak preview. It features a sliding system to make it compact and protect the inside keys which is unusual in this type of smartphones, the dimensions -110 x 53 x 22.5 mm - and weight 140 grams are respectable specifications. A light, slim and groovy device doesn't come everyday, or does it?
On a more technical level, it has some of the latest technology like using the Windows Mobile 5.0 Operative System that can make use of normal Windows programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. For multimedia performance there is a pre-installed Windows Media Player 10 software that will manage the videos that can be recorded with the 2.0megapixel camera, to watch the videos there is a 2.4-inch display supporting a 320x240 resolution Of course that the usual audio formats like MP3,WMA,WAV and MIDI can be used for ring tones. In the connectivity section there is space for almost everything, including 802.11b, 802.11g, Bluetooth 1.2 and USB1.1 for synchronisation. I think that the 64MB of RAM memory and 192MB of flash ROM are more than enough, but for the most demanding people there is an expansion option by using a miniSD card.
In order to type and insert other types of data, you can make use of the keypad or the stylus/touchscreen which is a good thing, unless you need to type an essay with 10 pages and 24392 words. This Stealth version doesn't support 3G (it's a pity) but there is tri-band variety with GMS900/1800/1900.

But as they say, its not always about the looks! The phone does have the usual vital functions like the all important camera (2MP), Bluetooth with A2DP, miniSD expansion, 128MB of ROM, 64MB of RAM, 802.11g, and a QVGA display. Where it disappoints is the omission of GSM 850 and EDGE. However Im betting that there will be another version for our American friends and hopefully we shall see an enhanced version with
EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA! No idea on pricing, so lets just ogle at the phone once more

http://www.mobilewhack.com/images/hipi-2200dfg-thumb.jpg (http://www.mobilewhack.com/images/hipi-2200dfg.jpg)Paragon Wireless has updated their portfolio by launching a dual-mode smartphone, the hipi-2200. The handset sports quite a hip design with its sleek ergonomics and ultra slim form factor! This one ain't your usual run of the mill phone and the handset is also the worlds first SIP-based Windows Mobile 5.0 dual-mode handset! Which in English means that it sports VoWLAN/GSM brand technology under its pretty hood and you dont have to be a genius to switch from VoIP to cell networks!
The hipi-2200 uses Windows Mobile 5.0 as its O.S. and also has a 2 megapixel shooter and a 1.9 176x220 pixel LCD. In this feature crazy world, the handset can safely holds its own thanks to the onboard MP3/MP4, camcorder/recorder, expansion slot for microSD and the phone is also internet friendly. The battery is capable of 4 hours of talk time, or 200 hours standby with GSM and Wi-Fi working simultaneously. No word on pricing or availability as of now.

HTC Herald

http://www.mobilewhack.com/htc_herald-thumb.jpg (http://www.mobilewhack.com/htc_herald.jpg)
Imagine if you threw a cell phone, a PDA, a UMPC, and a camera into a blender and hit Mix. Assuming you would have a functional device, the end result would be the HTC Herald, which is loaded with features.
The device is a cell phone with GSM/EDGE, as well as Quadband. The display is a 2.8 inch QVGA screen with 240 x 320 resolution. Nice. It looks like a PDA, but on the side is a QWERTY-style slide keyboard. Also nice. In addition to this, the device is completely wireless capable with both 802.11 b/g WiFi and Bluetooth. Very nice!
Other features include a 3 Megapixel camera as well as a Micro SD slot. All this in a device with 64MB of RAM and 128MB of ROM that is only 17mm thick.

As reported by Phone Scoop, HTC is working on a new Windows Mobile-powered Pocket PC Phone Edition, code named "HTC Libra". The device, which was revealed first time during this weeks CTIA show in LA, was confirmed by HTC executives which
also given several key details about the device. HTC's latest Pocket PC Phone Edition will have both - a traditional numeric keypad and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and the phone is significantly smaller than current HTC devices with a slide-out keyboard. According to Phone Scoop it's even closer in size to a typical bar-style feature phone. The QWERTY keyboard has only three rows of keys, to accommodate the smaller device size.

The Libra will be available in a CDMA version in Q1 next year, with support for EVDO Revision A high-speed data. A GSM version is also planned for next year (I hope we are talking about a GSM/UMTS version, not about GSM only - for such a device). Although revealed at the UTStarcom booth, the phone is expected to be distributed by HTC and branded by carriers.
No further information given yet.

The Sony Ericsson DVB-H concept phone is pretty imaginative making me wish that Sony took a design cue from it! The handset sports a clickwheel+joystick for easy navigation and takes inspiration form the Sony white M600 and Sony J220. Its pretty cool if you ask me and I hope Sony can get the guy onboard their team! What say?

http://www.mobilewhack.com/IMAGES/BlackBerry_8800_details-thumb.jpg (http://www.mobilewhack.com/IMAGES/BlackBerry_8800_details.jpg)More on the eagerly awaited RIM BlackBerry 8800 as some new specs and details have furbished on the BlackBerry forums! Looks like the 8800 will operate on 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM networks and will have connectivity options like GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth and even Wi-Fi. Looking to be a complete business solution, the BlackBerry 8800 shall also have a QWERTY keypad and include applications like Email, SMS, Corporate Data Access, and Organizer etc.
This smartphone is pretty smart (pardon the pun) as it also includes a comprehensive database of maps and an embedded RIM wireless modem. There are a bunch of multimedia functions too like a Music player and a Micro SD Card slot. However a camera for now is being considered as an optional feature and not all models will sport it.

Coming in from CEATEC 2006, check out Sharp's new mobile PC, confusingly called the WS003SH. Running Windows CE 5.0, the device features a big 3.7" LCD touch-screen that displays in VGA resolution. A full-fledged QWERTY keyboard slides out from beind the screen.
The WS003SH (whoosh?) runs on an XScale 416MHz processor and is bundled with 128MB flash memory and 64 megs of RAM. To expand on the available memory, the mobile PC has a miniSD memory card slot. A 1.33 megapixel camera has been thrown in, along with a PHS W-SIM card slot.
Other features on the Sharp WS003SH include support for wireless networking with 802.11b, and a mini USB interface. It's not clear if the device features Bluetooth.
No word on pricing or availability yet, though.

ی یی ی ʐ:

Seems like a little advanced version of the wizard pocket pc. This pocket pc is more thinner, probably the thinnest pocket pc devices released to date. Unfortunately there is no 3G or UMTS which might be a definite drawback to this pocket pc especially if you are inspired by those impressive video calling and high speed internet.
Specifications are: -17 mm thin
-TI 200 MHz, pretty slow while those recent pocket pc devices are upto 520Mhz
-GSM Tri band
-GPRS as usual
-Slide out Keyboard
-65K colors display

Basically these seem to be the standard specifications rather than any impressive feature attracting you to buy this pocket pc. However, if you are looking for a device that fits slim in your pocket, you can give a try!

Even though there isnt anything new about the features of the Solvo S830, it still is an impressive device. Not everything comes with a 7-inch touch-screen with 480 x 324 resolution, as well as Windows CE OS.
Its Holy Trinity of features is the ability to support Digital-Media Broadcasting (DMB), Global Positioning System (GPS) and the other million dollar acronym, PMP. Impressed yet? Well, you should also know it packs 128MB of SDRAM, along with 64MB of NAND, as well as a 1GB SD card. The device is powered by the SiRF Star III chip, and it has a T-DMB tuner, TV-out, and T-DMB tuner.
Unfortunately, there is no word on pricing or availability.

http://www.mobilewhack.com/RD__CMP2000R_1_jpg-thumb.txt (http://www.mobilewhack.com/RD__CMP2000R_1_jpg.txt)

In looking at the RD-CMP2000R from Sharp, one word comes to mind: cute. You wouldnt think that would be the case, that it would be something like innovative or maybe even cool.
After all, this device is jam-packed with features such as a music player, e-book reader, and FM-radio. It also includes a QWERTY keyboard along with a full-color, rotating LCD screen. On the back of the RD-CMP2000R is a nice little 1.3 Megapixel camera.
Like the Zaurus, a popular PDA that is selling only in Japan, the Sharp RD-CMP2000R will only be available in Korea. Apparently, these dictionary-type electronic devices are very popular there.
But with all its usefulness, I still would have to summarize it in a single word: cute. I mean, just look at it.

Skardin unveiled its latest entry into the world of PMPs with the Skardin HT-250 PMP at the Taitronics Autumn 2006 trade show in Taiwan. This media player can handle a variety of video formats, including MPEG1/2, MPEG4, DivX and XviD.
One of the USPs of this device is the addition of DVB-T receiver capabilities, letting users tune in to their favorite TV station. The PMP is equipped with a 2.4" TFT-LCD - which sounds a bit too small. The HT-250 takes in SD/MMC memory cards.
The Skardin HT-250 also provides outputs for composite video and stereo audio, so you can connect to a big-screen TV or home stereo system. However, it's not clear what audio formats are supported on this little guy.
No word on the pricing or where it will be available. Check back soon on this.

http://www.screenhead.com/2705_dash-thumb.jpg (http://www.screenhead.com/2705_dash.jpg)

These days, it is impossible to separate people from the cells and their internet, its like they have to stay connected all the time. T-Mobiles new Dash Smartphone is designed for this demand to keep a customer hooked up with their telephone, e-mail, and Wi-Fi all the time.
The T-mobile Dash is very compact, at only a half-inch thick and weighing in at 4.2 ounces. It has a cool QWERTY keyboard and 2.4 inch LCD keyboard (320 x 240 pixel resolution). All of this fits wonderfully in the palm of your hand.
It is powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0, as well as Direct Push Technology. Windows Media Player 10 allows you to play audio and video files from the internet, or transferred from a PC. Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile allows you access to your personal calendar and contacts.
It is also full of features. You can operate a speakerphone with Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free use. It also has a 1.3 megapixel camera. On a certain plan, the device is completely Wi-Fi compatible, so you have full access to your e-mail and the World Wide Web from anywhere you can get reception. The reception of the 802.11b/g has quite a range with quad-band GSM, GPRS, and EDGE. The phone also features the myFaves enabling, which allows you to connect more easily to the people who you want to contact.
The battery life is good for about five hours of talk time, and nine days of standby. Better be prepared to charge this one. No doubt the audio and video playback will eat up power faster than you can Dash.
The T-mobile Dash will be available exclusively to T-Mobile customers starting late October. No word about a price yet, but information can be received at the T-Mobile site.

Fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, in association with Lifted Research Group, has created limited edition T-Mobile Sidekicks. Technologically, these will be the same as T-Mobile Sidekick 3, but they are miles ahead when it comes to making a style statement.
The Diane von Furstenberg Sidekick from T-Mobile (left) reeks of independence and straightforward style, available in sleek black and featuring Diane's signature hot-pink lips.
The L-R-G Sidekick is a deviation that tries out a simple statement: "underground inventive, overground effective". Underground inventive refers to the beginning or roots, referring to how something starts out, while overground effective tells the story of what happens when these roots come out strong. Hidden within a traditional baby-tree camouflage, the L-R-G Sidekick is peppered with iconic imagery.
As with the original Sidekick 3, the phones feature IM and email clients, full QWERTY keyboard, EDGE technology for faster net access, a 1.3 megapixel camera, MP3 player and Bluetooth.
The Diane von Furstenberg and L-R-G Sidekicks will be available across select T-Mobile retail locations. They will be available online from October 30, 2006 till supplies last

Airis has two new navigation handhelds ready to hit the market: the T610 and T620. These two handhelds have a lot in common. They both have memory of 64 MB and 128 MB flash ROM, as well as a SiRFStarIII GPS module.
Both of them have Windows Mobile 5.0 and run on Samsung 2440 400 MHz processors. They also have 3.5 inch QVGA touchscreen LCD, as well as expansion slots for both SD and MMC cards. The only difference seems to be that the T620 has an integrated 802.11 b/g module.
Both should be out right about now, and Im sure the T620 is probably the more expensive of the two.

Im not certain how Rover got all the features in the new Rover PC G5, but this all-purpose device is jam-packed full of it.
Assuming that everything Ive heard is true, this is first and foremost, a communicator. However, thats like saying a Swiss Army Knife is just a cutting tool. Yet as a communicator, it has GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz. It is also equipped with Bluetooth, IrDA, as well as Wi-Fi.
This new device is made for drivers, and the GPS-receiver makes it handy for life on the road. While youre traveling, you might enjoy the MP3 player, FM-radio, multimedia player, 2 megapixel camera, and organizer. All this is powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0, and has good Pocket PC running with Intel Bulverde 520 MHz. As far as memory is concerned, it has 64 MB RAM, 128 MB flash ROM, and even a miniSD slot.
The Rover has a great 2.7 inch screen with 262K color LCD. It should be available now, but it probably isnt cheap.

The T-Mobile MDA Vario II thus leaves quite a first impression with its ergonomics, its just right size and of course its HSDPA capabilities. However first impression unfortunately is not always the last impression and thus we here at the Whack thought we should do a Review Round Up and see what the general consensus is.
Cnet UK (http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/handhelds/0,39030065,49283880,00.htm) - The folks over at Cnet could not help marvel at the Varios internet performance especially when it comes to its HSDPA capabilities. They give it an impressive 8.2 out of 10 rating and liked features like Wi-Fi, its camera with a macro lens and its expandable memory. However every handset has an Achilles Heel and the Vario II is no different. This PDA failed in the battery department and the camera lacked any sort of protection.

Personal Computer World (http://www.pcw.co.uk/personal-computer-world/hardware/2165972/mobile-mda-vario-ii) - They also couldnt resist succumbing to the Vario charm and loved the smartphone for its blistering fast data speeds. The website was able to establish an 1.8 mbps connection with complete ease and the Windows Mobile OS worked flawlessly. The slide open Qwerty keyboard leaves quite an impression and so does the onboard feature set. However when it comes to faults the Vario II is not without them. The handset does not achieve the promised maximum speed and the camera was found to be quite slow.

http://www.mobilewhack.com/images/sony-nv-u51-thumb.jpg (http://www.mobilewhack.com/images/sony-nv-u51.jpg)Sony continues it tradition of launching over-priced gadgets with its new NV-U51 GPS Navigational device. Like most Sony products, this one too is a winner in the eye-candy department barring the huge window mount of course!
For now details are scarce, so lets just quickly run over the specs. The new Sony NV-U51 navigational device is a low-end model of the Sony GPS Series and is a simple yet efficient machine according to the Sony folks. The device is outfitted with a 3.5-inch touch screen and also includes the "Gesture Command" interface, which entails the user giving commands via finger swipes.
The device also comes with a 90-day free trial of RDS-TMC which will give out real traffic updates and alert users of traffic jams, accidents etc. It comes bundled with maps of the US and Canada and is equipped with a 2GB memory. There are no multimedia features on the NV-U51, so for 500 bucks you just get a navigational info! How boring! You can pre-order it at the Sony website and show your solidarity to Sony!

http://www.mobilewhack.com/gSmart-i200.jpgAsia is the place to be when it comes to the latest in ground breaking mobile phone technology. So journalists pay extra attention to tech events like the Asia 3GSM Conference.
Among the notable PDA Phones on display were these ones (see below) by PC part manufacturer Gibabyte who has ambitiously decided to enter the PDA market.
The most basic of these models is the g-Smart i200 PDA Phone. Set for a Q1 2007 launch, it comes built in with a DVD-H/DVD-T receiver and will run on the upcoming version of Windows Mobile (code named Crossbow) which should be ready in time for the i200's launch. Other features include a USB 2.0 port and 512MB of onboard memory.
The g-Smart i300 is embedded with a GPS receiver, a 2MP digital camera and comes with a Bluetooth headset that can double as security device. This one will run Windows Mobile 5.0, is powered by an Intel PXAA270 520MHz processor and supports, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB 2.0. Expect the i300 in before the end of the year.
Currently available in select markets are the g-Smart i120 which comes with a TV antenna and recorder, and the g-Smart i128 which claims to be the first TV roaming mobile PDA phone in the world.

Korean manufacturer Bluebird soft announced its new BM300 PDA. The big question has to be: why a PDA? Are people using them anymore? As PDA sales slumped throughout the world this year, I think it's strange to introduce one more PDA without phone capabilities.
The interesting thing about BM300 is that it features T-DMB so you can watch TV when you're on the move. Apart from the 512MB on-board, you can up the memory to a useful 4GB. At the heart is an Intel PXA270 CPU running at 520MHz, and the PDA runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0.
Connectivity options include 802.11 b/g along with Bluetooth. An e-book reader, photo viewer and MP3 player are standard software. It supports stylus-based input although there's no mention of touch screen.
The Bluebird soft BM300 will hit the Korean markets first in November 2006, and hopefully be launched soon in other markets.

http://www.mobilewhack.com/images/Fujitsu_Siemens_T800.jpgThere's going to be a new kid on the block. Move over BlackBerry; move over Treo. Fujitsu-Siemens is all set to introduce it's first Pocket PC phone, the T800 series. The two models in the line-up: the Pocket Loox T810 and Pocket Loox T830 will be competing head-on with the Palm Treo 700w, Blackberry 8700r, HP's iPAQ hw6515,Samsung SCH-i830 and yet to be launched Motorola Q series of smartphones.
The reported specs for the T800 series models are quite impressive. Both the models should run Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC Phone Edition, are GSM capable, and have a square 240x240 pixel display. The units are powered by a 416 MHz Intel XScale CPU, 64 MB of RAM, and 128 MB of ROM. Plenty of power to play with.
The T800s measure in at 4.9" x 2.5" x 0.8" and weigh about 6.7 ounce. The cool thing about the T800s is the built in 3G cellular (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System 400-700 kbps) and Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) broadband capability. Some of the newer devices require an SD card for this purpose.
The official announcement should come out at next month's 3GSM show in Barcelona, Spain. Availability is slotted to be somewhere around July of this year. That's a long wait from now.

So far, the world of Ultra-mobile Personal Computers (UMPC) hasnt really taken off just yet. I mean, everybody and their dog has a cell phone, but very few consumers have taken the plunge and bought the latest UMPC.
If you are in that got to have the latest UMPC minority, you should check out Independent Pioneers IPbook A1. This babys got a VIA 1 GHz processor, 40 GB Hard Drive, and 512 MB of RAM. This is definitely good specs for supporting Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as optional GPS and DMB.
Not only that, this is the first electronic device called a book that actually looks like a book. It kind of reminds me of those Bibles with the zippers on the side. You know what Im talking about. By the way, what kind of Windows is this UMPC supporting, if any?
Im guessing since Independent Pioneer is a Korean company, the IPbook A1 will probably limit its release to Asia. However, that is just a guess. The planned release date is Novemeber, at about a price of $850 USD.

Apparently, pictures of the BlackBerry 8705 have begun to meander their way around the World Wide Web.
As best as we can figure, the BlackBerry 8705 is simply a normal BlackBerry 8700 except with HAC (Hearing Aid Capability). There is also a minor GSM radio and some component changes. There was a lot of buzz that the BlackBerry 8705 would have some Wi-Fi capability, but that doesnt seem to be the case.
The BlackBerry 8700 is able to play MP3s, Bluetooth capability, along with Quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE technology. The 8700c does promise web-browsing, if it is Wi-Fi you want, then this is gadget for you.

Not only is it easy on the eyes but also has the current fav Core 2 Duo Technology under its pretty hood.
The Fujitsu LifeBook T4215 Tablet PC is an upgrade to the T4210 and is identical to it looks wise. When it comes to the specs, the T4215 does promise goodies like 12.1-inch LCD options, like XGA for indoor and / or outdoor use and SXGA+ for indoors, 4GB of DDR2 RAM, gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g and up to 120GB hard drive.
So far so good and looks like Fujitso may just get it right this time. The Tablet PC promises six hours of battery life and would run on Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 OS. This one is Vista Ready and expect a $1,799 price tag on the base model.

http://www.mobilewhack.com/fic-neo1973-thumb.jpg (http://www.mobilewhack.com/fic-neo1973.jpg)Those of you Linux users out there might enjoy the new Neo1973, a smartphone from FIC. This quad-band GSM/GPRS phone is the first to use open-source OpenMoKo platform, and, as you can see, it has a very unique look to it.
The 2.8 inch display LCD is an ultra-high resolution touchscreen. It has 128 MB of RAM, and 64 MB of Flash, along with a 64 MB MicroSD card. It is based on a Samsung S3C2410 SoC (system-on-chip) application processor, which is powered by an ARM9 core. The phone also features an A-GPS system that can create wonderful maps in high resolution.
The Neo1973 smartphone can be charged via USB connection to a computer. It can also serve as a router for connecting a PC to the internet with its GPRS data connection ability.
The OpenMoko software will include a dialer, unified SyncML-enabled email/text messaging client, phonebook, and media player. More applications will be available via feeds, including those certified from FIC and other sources. The phone will also included a software manager with an apt-get-like function that makes it trivial to add, remove, and update applications that are packaged in the OpenEmbedded package format, including thousands of existing open source applications from the OpenZaurus, as well as Familiar Linus, and Angstrom products. For those who still prefer the popular Microsoft operating system, you can also have Windows Mobile on the Neo1973. In fact, the Neo1973, or FIC-GTA001, is one in a series of phones. A follow-up model is expected to offer both WiFi and Bluetooth.
A pilot run of 500 FIC Neo1973s should arrive in Mid-December. It will then reach general availability in January, selling directly from FIC for about $350 USD. Believe it or not, this phone was co-designed by the Chinese government as a Windows-based PHP (Personal Handy Phone) product. FIC apparently has the capacity to ship 100,000 of these phones per month.

After the introduction of the new brand called Glofiish series and the first new device within this series called X500 Glofiish, E-ten is now on the break of showing the second new device within the new brand. The M700 Glofiish is the successor of the M600 and M600+.

The device has some great resemblance to the HTC TyTN. The M700 contains a Samsung 400 MHz processor, Bluetooth 2.0, 2.8" QVGA display, GSM, EDGE, GPRS, Quad-band, WLAN/Wifi 802.11b/g, slide out QWERTY keyboard, 2.0 Mpixel camera, MicroSD slot and a 1530 mAh battery.

The device lacks HSDPA or UMTS connectivity, but does have a more distinctive look than the HTC TyTN. We expect that the device will be introduced in the upcoming weeks. When more information comes up we will inform you as soon as possible.

http://www.mobilewhack.com/images/imate_jaq3_launch.jpg

The much-awaited i-mate JAQ3 is all set to scorch the mobile world. Featuring a rather nice QWERTY keypad and the smug little 5-way joystiq, the i-mate JAQ3 runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 and comes with a host of communication options.
The JAQ3 is equipped with a 2.4" touch screen, allowing you to write your email and text messages with a stylus. This phone is a quad-band GSM world phone and supports EDGE networks as well. It doesn't support UMTS, but at its price point, EDGE support is appreciated.
The i-mate JAQ3 also includes a 2-megapixel camera, so this one's not just for business types. The USP, however, has to be support for Wi-Fi, with 802.11 b/g standards. For convenience when reading long emails (you know how it is!), the device features a scroll wheel.
But don't go to your nearest gizmo store and ask for it: the i-mate JAQ3 is making its debut in the Middle East, but hopefully it will hit the other markets soon. We had covered the i-mate JAQ3 Windows Mobile Pocket PC a couple of months ago, and it's good it see the device getting launched finally.
