It's been less than a week since Taiwanese electronics manufacturer E-TEN launched its new brand of Pocket PC devices called glofish. Right on top of that new line was X500, the world's thinnest GPS & WiFi enabled Pocket PC.
This week they rolled out another device under the glofish brand the M700. This Pocket PC is distinguished by its slide-out QWERTY keyboard but other than that its pretty much like the X500 - offering everything else except 3G support. And that includes GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, support for Push email, quad-band connectivity, an FM radio and an integrated camera.
The M700 is powered by Windows Mobile 5.0 and should hit stores in time for Christmas.

If you thought the HTC Excalibur would stick around for a while, think again. HTC is already busy putting the finishing touches on a major update to the Excalibur. Codenamed the HTC Cavalier, the new device features a 400MHz Samsung CPU among other interesting features.
What's more, it's a quad-band UMTS/HSDPA phone supporting the older GPRS/EDGE networks as well. And if that's not enough, there's always Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) to fall back to.
Cavalier will have a 2.4" QVGA screen and a 2 megapixel camera. HTC has fit in 64MB of RAM. Unfortunately there are no sneak peeks yet, but they should be out soon.

HTC P4350

The last time we reported about the HTC Herald, we didn’t really know that much about it. Now, thanks to some more info, we have found that the HTC Herald has been officially named the HTC P4350.
We were right on several facts. The HTC Herald or HTC P4350 is a lovely quad-band unit with EDGE connectivity and a QWERTY keyboard. It also has a lovely 2.8 inch touchscreen with 64MB of internal RAM and 128MB of ROM, as well as a Micro SD slot.
What we were wrong on was the camera. Apparently, I had reported that it was a 3 Megapixel, when the P4350 is actually a 2 Megapixel. Whoops. I forgot to mention that this baby has Microsoft Outlook and a keen little 5 way navigational stick. The picture that I had last time looks very different than the one I have now, too.
We also didn’t have the price. Expect the HTC Herald or HTC P4350 to be “around $735”, and that is a direct quote.

Engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/17/hands-on-with-fujitsus-upcoming-pocket-loox-n100-gps-unit/) managed to get their hands on the Fujitsu Pocket LOOX N100 Review GPS. Unfortunately, their review was slightly negative. I believe their exact words were: “you can color us unimpressed”.
They site some of the features such as Navigon’s MobileNavigator 6 Premium, a 300MHz Samsung processor, and the SiRF Star III chip. They also site the 2.8 inch QVGA screen, the 64MB of RAM, and the miniSD card slot.
Engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/17/hands-on-with-fujitsus-upcoming-pocket-loox-n100-gps-unit/) doesn’t like how the Pocket LOOX N100 does not function like other Navigation devices. That is, it does not have any action as far as a Portable Media Player (PMP) is concerned. It can only function with MP3, WMA, AAC, and a few games.
The main strike against the Pocket LOOX N100 is the high price tag of $500. They do like the fact that device looks ***y, and I’m inclined to agree with them. If you still want this Pocket LOOX N100 for yourself, I should be out in March of next year.

Seems everyone needs a little more memory for their video camera, computer, or cell phone. With this demand, comes the need for a new supply. There are types of SDHC memory cards out there, and Toshiba has introduced a new class: the Class 4, to be exact.
The Class 4 marks a landmark for the Toshiba company as it is the first 8GB Class 4 memory card that they have ever made. Users should be expected to do a lot more with this amount of memory.
This new card is expected to be released in early 2007, along with many other 4GB products. I’m sure users will appreciate the extra 4GB in these cards. So far, no word on the price.

Quanta Computer's O2 Apollo cell phone just got FCC approved! This sleek little Windows Mobile 5.0 phone comes with high-quality stereo speakers and offers a stylus for entering text/email messages. It features volume controls on the side (I've never been comfortable with volume controls on the side of a device) and the usual 5-way navigation pad.
The O2 Apollo also features a dedicated camera access key. Connectivity options are aplenty, with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPRS being the primary ones. There's also Infrared on this one. The display is a big 2.7" TFT LCD touchscreen.
The device is equipped with a 2-megapixel CMOS camera, along with a mirror for self-portraits (here's a question: how many of you use this feature on a camera?) Memory can be expanded via the provided MiniSD memory card slot. The Apollo features a mini USB port allowing you to transfer data from your PC. An FM radio completes the package.
No word on pricing yet, but check back for that soon.

Well, folks at Pocketpcthoughts (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/), were lucky enough to get snap shots of this new behemoth of a phone, the O2 XDA flame. If you are wondering why am I drooling so much over it, here's a small list of specs that O2 has planned for this beast in 2007.
According to the sources, the feature list includes, a huge 3.6" VGA display, 2GB ROM, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, USB On-The-Go, a 2.0-megapixel camera, SRS Mobile HD surround sound support, and TV-out support. If that's not enough, it gets an NVIDIA GoForce 5500 GPU for next-generation mobile graphics and delivers a sucker punch with an Intel XScale PXA270 processor running at clock speeds of a staggering 520MHz, which is (quiet embarrassingly) 20 notches higher than my CPU clock speed! Well, folks before you go crazy over it, let me remind you its just too good to be true. However only time will tell though. But we will make a conscious effort to keep you updated about this beast of a phone.

However for now it will only be available to our British friends and I guess the rest of us will just have to twiddle our thumbs. The O2 XDA Zinc is a tri-band GSM handset that supports 3G connectivity and is a Windows Powered Smartphone.
The Zinc is powered by the Intel PXA270 520MHz processor and is equipped with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a 2 megapixel camera. Some other features include; Bluetooth 2.0, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and all the Microsoft Mobile Applications. No word on pricing.

The latest to come to light through the Internet rumor mill goes by the name of VOX. The full size, slide out QWERTY keyboard is quiet evident from the pic acquired and unlike most other HTC smart phones with sliding keyboards, this one isn't a Pocket PC, instead it is the first Windows Smartphone with one. According to sources, it won't have the usual touch sensitive screen but still should include other normal stuffs like Wi-Fi, EDGE support and Bluetooth. More info about the phone is expected in early 2007. Anyway we will keep you updated.

LG seems intent on exploiting the advantages of WiMAX. With the launch of the new WiMAX KC1 PDA cell phone, LG has emerged as one of the first few companies to come out with full WiMAX support on a cell phone. The KC1 was unveiled at the ITU 2006.
Equipped with a largish 2.8" TFT LCD capable of QVGA resolution, there's 64MB RAM on the KC1, with expansion support via a microSD memory card slot. Bluetooth is present as well, along with a 2 megapixel camera.
The KC1 runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 and, not surprisingly, emulates the design standards set by the KG99 Chocolate Phone. While a release date hasn't been announced, one can only hope there are enough WiMAX hotspots to experience the KC1.

i-mate has yet to introduce their newest phone, the JAQ4. As you can see, this candybar job has a cool and somewhat ergonomic QWERTY keyboard. There are also rumors of an integrated GPS module.
Some of the other features are listed below, including a 2.8 inch touchscreen display with QVGA (320 x 240 pixels), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a Slot for a miniSD cards.
So far, there is no word on the price, but it is expected to hit the general market by February of 2007.

So here's the company called Voxtel, who recently previewed their new W740 Pocket PC. Believe me, its just 15 millimeter thin and runs on Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC Edition. It had the Moto RAZR kinda look. Especially with the metal keypad.
Going little deeper, we found that it had a whooping 4MP Autofocus camera. Okay, 4MP is not that whooping but its the first mark in Pocket PC devices with that resolution. While equipped with a 200Mhz TI OMAP 730 processor, we feel it couldn't take up the ride so fast. Anyway, other features such as WiFI, 3G is also absent.
So whats the point of having a 4MP camera but no 3G, WiFi, not even EDGE and with that a little bit slower processor, don't just get fallen for looks or the camera. Comments?

این گوشی (اجازه دهید تا به جای کامپیوتر جیبی از نام گوشی استفاده نماییم) یکی از گوشی هایی می باشد که ماه ها و یا حتی سال ها کاربران علاقه مند به کامپیوترهای جیبی با نرم افزارهای مایکروسافت ، انتظار تولید شدن آن را داشتند .
شخص بیل گیتس نیز خود برای معرفی نسخه ی جدید ویندوز مخصوص موبایل (Windows Mobile5) که سریع تر ، با ثبات تر ، قابل ادراک تر ، پخته تر و کارآمدتر از نسخه های قبلی می باشد از این گوشی استفاده کرد .
این دستگاه توسط دو کارخانه I Mate با نام Jas Jar و HTC با نام HTC Universal تولید و به بازار عرضه شده که تفاوت های کمی از نظر لوازم جانبی موجود در سبد و برنامه های از پیش نصب شده برروی گوشی با هم دارند .

با این که این گوشی بی نهایت جالب می باشد ولی اجازه دهید تا اول به سراغ لوازم جانبی موجود در بسته ی آن برویم و بعد از آن به بررسی خود گوشی بپردازیم .
همان طور که اشاره شد 2 قلم در بسته ی دستگاه موجود می باشد که در اصل یکی به عنوان یدک دیگری استفاده خواهد شد . طول این قلم ها 95 میلی متر می باشد و کمی با قلم دیگر گوشی های قلم دار متفاوت می باشند چرا که شکل آن ها گرد و یا استوانه ای نمی باشد بلکه به صورت 4 گوش می باشند ! سطح بالایی و پایینی قلم از جنس پلاستیک و مشکی رنگ می باشد و سطح میانی آن از یک نوع فلز سبک است . البته شکل آن طوری می باشد که با نوشتن نمی توان خیلی آن را به خوبی معرفی نمود پس توصیه می کنیم که به عکس آن که در زیر قرار گرفته است توجه نمایید که خود گویای همه چیز خواهد بود ؛ البته این قلم ها با اندازه ی کوچک شان از نظر کارآیی بسیار عالی می باشند و از کارکردن با آن ها خسته نخواهید شد .

در مورد کیف این گوشی باید اشاره کرد که هیچ نوآوری خاصی در آن مشاهده نمی شود و بسیار ساده و معمولی به نظر می رسد که این باعث می شود تا کاربران یا از کیف این گوشی استفاده نمایند و یا یک کیف بهتر با هزینه ی شخصی برای گوشی خود تهیه نمایند .
نکته جالب وجود یک صفحه ی محکم در لایه میانی این کیف است که از برخورد مستقیم اشیاء با صفحه نمایشگر جلوگیری می کند ولی با این حال باز هم قسمت هایی از دستگاه توسط کیف پوشیده نمی شوند که این قضیه اصلاً جالب به نظر نمی رسد . نکته منفی دیگر این کیف عدم بهره مندی آن از یک وسیله برای بستن به کمربند شلوار و یا حتی یک قلاب به همین منظور می باشد .
در مورد هدست استریو دستگاه نیز باید اشاره کرد که نوع فیش آن 3.5 میلی متری می باشد که این قضیه یک امتیاز مثبت برای این گوشی محسوب می شود زیرا کاربر می تواند از هر یک از هدفون های خانگی خود که همگی 3.5 میلی متری می باشند ، استفاده نماید . برروی هدست ارائه شده در جعبه این گوشی یک قسمت کنترل وجود دارد که می توانید از طریق آن صدا و یا قطع و وصل شدن مکالمه را تنظیم نمایید . در آخر باید اشاره نمود با وجود شکل نامأنوس گوشی های این هدست ، باز هم آن ها درون گوشی کاربر ، به خوبی جای می گیرند و مشکلی ایجاد نخواهند کرد .

کابل USB ارتباطی گوشی نیز از عادی ترین انواع آن ها می باشد که یک سر آن به کامپیوتر وصل می شود و از نوع USB است و سر دیگر آن که به گوشی متصل می شود از نوع Mini USB می باشد که طول آن 120 سانتی متر می باشد .

شارژر دستگاه نسبتاً کوچک می باشد که طول سیم آن 175 سانتی متر است و هیچ چیز خاص دیگری درباره آن وجود ندارد . همان طور که مشاهده کردید لوازم جانبی موجود در بسته ی گوشی بسیار معمول و مطابق روال تمام گوشی ها می باشد و نکته ی خاص بارزی در آن وجود ندارد .

طراحی ظاهر گوشی (Design) :
اگر مایل به خرید این گوشی جیبی می باشید (و یا آن را خریده اید) بهتر است اول یک سوال از شما پرسیده شود و سوال این است که آیا مایل به خرید یک دستگاه کامپیوتر جیبی می باشید که در جیب جا نشود ؟! حتماً منظور از مطرح شدن این سوال را متوجه شده اید . بله این گوشی بسیار بزرگ می باشد و بهتر است به جای یک کامپیوتر جیبی (PPC) به آن واژه یک Communicator پیشرفته اطلاق شود !

ابعاد گوشی 127.7x81x25 میلی متر می باشد و وزن آن 285 گرم است ! البته اگر ابعاد گوشی را با دیگر گوشی های (کامپیوتر جیبی) دارای صفحه نمایشگر VGA مقایسه کنید فقط یک پارامتر که آن هم ضخامت این گوشی است ، غیرمعمول می باشد (البته وزن زیاد گوشی هم یک مورد غیرمعمول می باشد)
البته همان طور که می دانید ضخامت زیاد این گوشی مربوط به وجود صفحه کلید سخت افزاری آن می باشد . ولی در کل اصلاً فکر گذاشتن این دستگاه را در جیب به ذهن راه ندهید !

با وجود سایز بزرگ این گوشی ، طراحان هوشمند آن از رنگ خاکستری تیره براق در این گوشی بهره برده اند تا شاید کمی آن را کوچک تر نشان دهد ! شرح ظاهر پیچیده ی این گوشی به خاطر قابلیت چرخشی آن کمی سخت می باشد .
این دستگاه از دو بخش تشکیل شده است که با یک لولا به هم متصل می باشند ، بخش بزرگتر که در زیر قرار گرفته شامل صفحه کلید می باشد و بخش کوچک تر که در بالا قرار گرفته همان صفحه نمایشگر می باشد که قادر به چرخیدن است . این چرخیدن صفحه نمایشگر باعث می شود تا بتوانید به دو صورت از این گوشی استفاده نمایید یکی دقیقاً همانند کامپیوترهای کیفی یا "Lap top" و کنترل و توسط صفحه کلیدسخت افزاری از آن استفاده کنید و روش دیگر همانند دیگر کامپیوترهای جیبی می باشد که می توانید از قلم و صفحه نمایشگر لمسی آن بهره مند گردید . با این حال عکس ها گویای همه چیز می باشند :

در هنگامی که گوشی بسته می باشد دو قسمت روی هم قرار گرفته با هم جفت نمی شوند و این قضیه باعث می شود تا به راحتی دو قسمت از هم باز شوند و صفحه نمایشگر نمایان شود و باید توجه داشت تا کاملاً باز نشود ؛ نمی توان با آن توسط قلم کار کرد و اگر هم کامل باز شود باز هم به خوبی با قلم نمی توان با آن کار کرد زیرا با فشار دادن قلم برروی صفحه نمایشگر دستگاه به عقب خمیده می شود و عملاً استفاده از قلم در این حالت که شبیه به قرار گرفتن به صورت Lap top است غیرممکن می باشد .
اگر درب صفحه نمایشگر را 180 درجه بچرخانیم و دستگاه را ببندیم ظاهر دستگاه همانند دیگر کامپیوترهای جیبی (Pocket PC) خواهد شد و صفحه نیز به صورت خودکار از حالت "Land Scape" به حالت معمولی یا "Portrait" درمی آید . البته بعد از روزها استفاده از گوشی با این حالت باز هم نمی توان به کارکردن با آن خو گرفت و عادت کرد زیرا وزن دستگاه بسیار زیاد می باشد (در حدود 300 گرم) همان طور که متوجه شده اید کار با این گوشی برای آقایان سخت می باشد حال تصور کنید که یک کاربر خانم بخواهد از این گوشی استفاده کند !
در مورد طراحی ظاهری دستگاه نیز باید اشاره نمود که وقتی دستگاه به صورت بسته شده در پیش روی شما قرار دارد اولین چیزی که به چشم می خورد نوشته "I Mate" به رنگ آبی روشن می باشد ، یک بلندگو نیز در این قسمت قرار دارد . اگر دستگاه را برگردانید در سمت دیگر دوربین دستگاه و فلاش (یک LED قوی و نه فلاش !) آن را مشاهده خواهید نمود ، همچنین کاور مشکی رنگی با سطح خشن در زیر دوربین وجود دارد که از سُرخوردن دستگاه از دستان کاربر و یا روی میز جلوگیری می کند که وظیفه پوشاندن باتری و محل قرارگیری سیم کارت را نیز به عهده دارد .
در قسمت کناره ای دستگاه که در هنگام استفاده از دستگاه به صورت Lap top رو به روی کاربر قرار می گیرد 3 دکمه و 1 دکمه کشویی تنظیم میزان صدا وجود دارد که 2 عدد از آن 3 دکمه به دلخواه کاربر می توانند تنظیم گردند ولی به طور پیش فرض یکی به منظور فعال سازی دوربین ، دیگری به منظور ضبط صدا و آخری برای روشن کردن نور زمینه به کار می رود . همچنین 2 بلندگو نیز در 2 منتهی الیه این قسمت وجود دارند .
قسمت های جانبی این گوشی کمترین دکمه های کنترلی را در خود جای داده اند به نحوی که هیچ دکمه ای در سمت راست مشاهده نمی کنید ولی در قسمت چپ دکمه روشن و خاموش و شیار قرارگیری کارت SD قرار دارد .

با نگاه کردن به قسمت کناره ای پشت دستگاه ، دقیقاً پشت یک دستگاه کامپیوتر Lap top برای تان تداعی خواهد شد که یک خروجی هدفون استاندارد ، یک دکمه "Soft Reset" و محل اتصال به کابل ارتباطی ( که البته برای شارژ کردن دستگاه نیز کاربرد دارد ) از نوع Mini USB آن جا واقع شده اند .
برروی لولا دو دکمه ی سبز (برای برقراری تماس) و قرمز (برای قطع کردن تماس) وجود دارند و در سمت دیگر دو قسمت مربوط به اتصال به آنتن خارجی و محل قرارگیری قلم دستگاه واقع شده اند .

البته تعداد کل دکمه های این گوشی به همین چند دکمه اشاره شده محدود نمی گردد و هنوز دو قسمت هستند که درباره آن ها صحبت نشده است ، یکی صفحه کلید گوشی و دیگری دکمه های قرار گرفته در مجاورت صفحه نمایشگر آن . اول از همه دو لایه ی پلاستیکی در پایین صفحه کلید به چشم می خورد که وظیفه آن ها این است که از برخورد صفحه کلید با صفحه نمایشگر جلوگیری می کنند تا احیاناً برروی صفحه نمایشگر خط و یا خشی نیفتد . دو چراغ از نوع LED نیز در دو منتهی الیه لولا قرار دارند که وقتی سمت چپی به رنگ های سبز وآبی شروع به چشمک زدن می کند یعنی فعالیت های بی سیم گوشی در حال اجرا می باشند و وقتی LED سمت راستی با رنگ های سبز ونارنجی شروع به چشمک زدن می کند بدین معناست که یا دستگاه در حال شارژ است و یا قرار ملاقات دارید و یا زنگ دستگاه شما را از یک مسأله با خبر می سازند .
میکروفون دستگاه نیز در یک شیار کوچک در کنار کلید سبز صفحه کلید پنهان شده است ، یک حفره دیگر نیز در بالای دکمه سبز دستگاه قرار دارد که در نگاه اول به نظر دکمه مخصوص "Reset" دستگاه می باشد ولی در اصل حسگر (Sensor) نور برای فعال شدن نور پس زمینه صفحه کلید می باشد ، یعنی وقتی فضای اطراف ، تاریک باشد به صورت خودکار چراغ پس زمینه صفحه کلید روشن می شود .

حال بهتر است به قسمت اصلی گوشی یعنی صفحه نمایشگر آن بپردازیم .صفحه نمایشگر گوشی از نوع VGA و 3.6 اینچی می باشد . در قسمت بالای صفحه نمایشگر نیز یک سوراخ وجود دارد که نقش آیفون (Speaker) گوشی را ایفا می کند و در جهت مخالف یعنی زیر صفحه نمایشگر کلیدهای 5 جهته (4 جهت اصلی و یکی تأیید) و یک دوربین به منظور برقراری تماس های ویدئویی وجود دارد .

در کل طراحی این گوشی بسیار زیبا و مناسب می باشد و رنگ خاکستری تیره جذابیت خاصی به این گوشی بخشیده است . کیفیت مونتاژ گوشی بسیار عالی می باشد اصلاً مواد با کیفیت نامناسب در آن به کار نرفته است . سوالی که مطمئن هستم ذهن شما را مشغول به خود کرده است این است که آیا لولا و قسمت هرز گرد (که صفحه نمایشگر را می چرخاند) به اندازه کافی قوی هستند و بعد از مدت طولانی استفاده مداوم از گوشی دچار لقی و یا حتی خراب نخواهند شد ؟
در مدت کوتاهی که این گوشی آزمایش گردید چنین اتفاقی پیش نیامد و تا مدتی طولانی که از این گوشی استفاده نشود نمی توان به این سوال جواب داد !

صفحه کلید (Keyboard) :
می توان اشاره کرد که صفحه کلید این گوشی یکی از بهترین و یا حتی بهترین صفحه کلید کامل (QWERTY) موجود در میان انواع کامپیوترهای جیبی (Pocket PC) که بر مبنای سیستم عامل ویندوز موبایل کار می کنند ؛ می باشد . کلیدها از نوع میکرو سویچ (Micro Switch) می باشند که این خود یک مزیت به شمار می آید زیرا این نوع کلیدها با دوام تر می باشند و حتی تایپ کردن توسط آن ها بسیار راحت و لذت بخش می باشد .
تنها ضعف صفحه کلید گوشی صدای کلیدها به هنگام فشاردادن شان می باشد که کمی آزار دهنده می باشد و این قضیه در محیط های ساکت بسیار نمود پیدا می کند و کلافه کننده می شود . صفحه کلید گوشی از 62 دکمه تشکیل شده است که در 6 ردیف چیده شده اند ، عرض کلیدها معمولاً 8.5 یا 9.5 میلی متر می باشد ولی با این حال بعضی کلیدها از این قاعده مستثنی می باشند .
فاصله ی بین ، بسیار کمتر از موارد مشابه می باشد . برروی کلیدهای "F" و "J" دو برآمدگی وجود دارد که بتوان بدون نگاه کردن به صفحه کلید با آن به راحتی تایپ نمود .

صفحه کلید از دو نوع کلید تشکیل شده است یکی کلیدهای عملیاتی و دستوری و دیگری کلیدهای مخصوص اعداد و حروف . در کل 12 کلید عملیاتی که شامل کلیدهای سبز و قرمز نیز می باشند در صفحه کلید گوشی واقع شده اند همچنین دو کلید نیز در طرفین کلید سبز و قرمز وجود دارند که علامت شان دو خط افقی می باشد و برای کنترل کردن برنامه ها به کار می روند .
کلید "Function" نیز برای استفاده از سمبل هایی که به صورت قرمز در کنار برخی از کلیدها نوشته شده به کار می رود . لازم به تأکید است که نور قرمز ( قرمز مایل به نارنجی رنگ ) پس زمینه صفحه کلید بسیار عالی و مناسب می باشد و در محیط های کم نور و یا بدون نور بسیار کارآمد می باشد . مدت فعال ماندن این نور نیز قابل تنظیم می باشد .

وقتی که دستگاه برروی میز قرار دارد به راحتی با 4 انگشت می توان با آن تایپ نمود و حتی اگر گوشی را در دستان خود نگه دارید می توانید به راحتی با دو انگشت شست خود اقدام به تایپ نمودن نمایید . البته باید اشاره نمود که برای ورود (تایپ) اطلاعات حجیم بهتر است از این گوشی استفاده نکنید زیرا بعد از مدت طولانی تایپ مداوم با آن خسته خواهید شد (البته باز هم به انتخاب خودتان بستگی دارد) ولی برای مواردی همانند چت کردن و یا ورود اطلاعات کم برای استفاده کردن از این گوشی هیچ شکی به دل خود راه ندهید .
البته نقص هایی جزئی نیز در طراحی این صفحه کلید وجود دارد مثلاً وجود یک کلید "Shift" که آن هم در سمت چپ قرار گرفته و نکته ی دیگر صدای صفحه کلید است که قبلاً به آن اشاره شد ، همچنین چون کلید "Space" به اندازه دو کلید معمولی می باشد ، دو میکروسویچ نیز در زیر آن قرار دارد و گاهی با فشردن این کلید به جای یک فاصله دو عدد فاصله میان حروف می افتد . در کل صفحه کلید این گوشی بسیار خوب و مناسب می باشد و مطمئناً قابل رقابت با دیگر هم نوعان خود می باشد .

ویژگی های دیگر گوشی :
باید اشاره کرد که این گوشی خصوصیاتی دارد که هرگز نمی توان منکر آن ها شد ولی قیمت گزاف این گوشی که حدوداً 2 یا 3 برابر قیمت یک کامپیوتر جیبی دیگر می باشد ، انتظارات زیادی از این گوشی ایجاد می کند . حال بهتر است نیم نگاهی به ویژگی های دیگر این گوشی بیندازیم .
پردازشگر (CPU) دستگاه 520 مگاهرتزی می باشد و این سوال را در ذهن به وجود می آورد که چرا با این قیمت پردازشگر دستگاه 624 مگاهرتزی نمی باشد . همچنین با قابلیت های جدید ویندوز موبایل نسخه 5 ( یا همان 2005 ) دیگر 64 مگابایت RAM و 128 مگابایت حافظه ROM نکته ی چندان جالب و متمایزی به حساب نمی آید .

صفحه نمایشگر گوشی :
صفحه نمایشگر این گوشی از نوع TFT می باشد و با رزولوشن 640x480 پیکسلی قابلیت نمایش 65000 رنگ را دارد و قطر آن 3.6 اینچ یعنی حدود 91.4 میلی متر می باشد . نور پس زمینه صفحه کلید نیز به صورت دستی تا 10 درجه مختلف قابل تنظیم می باشد ولی متأسفانه تنظیم نور به صورت خودکار نمی باشد . تصاویر در این صفحه نمایشگر بسیار واضح و شفاف به نظر می رسند .

قابلیت های صوتی :
ویژگی های صوتی این دستگاه نیز کاملاًخوب و مناسب می باشند و برخلاف دیگر کامپیوترهای جیبی که حداکثر از یک یا دو بلندگو (Speaker) بهره می برند ، این گوشی از 3 بلندگو بهره می برد که دو بلندگوی قرار گرفته در قسمت جلویی گوشی به صورت استریو می باشند .
حداکثر صدای گوشی کاملاً در حد مطلوب می باشد و این قضیه وقتی بیشتر نمود پیدا می کند که از هدست گوشی استفاده نمایید . اگر بخواهیم صادقانه قضاوت کنیم وقتی صدای بلندگو در بالاترین حد می باشد صدا بسیار رسا می باشد ولی کیفیت پخش افت می کند که در برخی مواقع کمی آزار دهنده می باشد .
میکروفون دستگاه نیز برای ضبط صدای اطراف بسیار عالی می باشد . صدای خروجی از قسمت هدست نیز بسیار عالی است همچنین می توانید از هدفون های خانگی خودتان برای گوش کردن به موسیقی های دستگاه استفاده نمایید .( خروجی هدست گوشی 3.5 میلی متری می باشد ) .

ارتباط دستگاه با کامپیوتر :
اتصال گوشی به کامپیوتر نیز توسط کابل USB می باشد ( نسخه 1.1 ) همچنین پورت مادون قرمز (Infrared) دستگاه هم که از نوع (Fast Infrared یا FIR ) می باشد تا سرعت 4 مگابایت در ثانیه پشتیبان نقل و انتقال اطلاعات خواهد بود که البته در عمل هرگز به این سرعت دست پیدا نخواهد کرد !
از دیگر وسایل ارتباطی گوشی که از نوع بی سیم هم می باشند Blue Tooth و Wifi هستند . بلوتوث دستگاه نسخه 1.1 می باشد و به خوبی و بدون مشکل کار می کند ، Wifi دستگاه نیز همانند بلوتوث بدون مشکل کار می کند .

باتری دستگاه :
درباره باتری دستگاه نیز باید اشاره کرد که طول عمر آن بسیار مناسب می باشد و از نوع Li – Pol و با گنجایش mAh 1620 می باشد که واقعاً جالب و کارآمد است .

دوربين (Camera) :
این دستگاه به عنوان یک گوشی 3G ، دارای دو دوربین می باشد که طبیعتاً دوربین با کیفیت تر همان دوربین قرار گرفته شده در پشت دستگاه می باشد که 3/1 مگاپیکسلی می باشد و رزولوشن آن 1280x1024 پیکسل می باشد ولی تا 1200x1600 نیز قابل افزایش می باشد ؛ رزولوشن های دیگر این دوربین 640x480 و 320x240 و 120x160پیکسل می باشد و عکس ها می توانند با فرمت JPEG با 4 حالت فشرده شدن حجمی و یا با فرمت BMP ذخیره گردند .
گزینه های مربوط به عکس برداری شامل تغییر نور سفید و یا تنظیم مقدار نور آبی و قرمز عکس می باشند و تنظیماتی نظیر تنظیم نور ، شفافیت ، سیاهی و سفیدی ، تنظیم رنگ و وضوح عکس نیز وجود دارند . اگر محیط عکاسی تیره باشد می توانید از فلاش دستگاه بهره مند گردید تا نور محیط برای عکاسی مناسب گردد .
حالت هایی نظیر عکس پرتره ( برای قرارگرفتن در دفترچه تلفن ) ، کولاژ ، پانوراما ( عکس 360 درجه ) ، حالت ورزشی ( 5 تا 30 عکس در مدت زمان کوتاه ) به منظور عکس برداری های مخصوص در این گوشی وجود دارند .

عکس گرفته شده توسط اشیاء متحرک ( البته با سرعت کم ) تقریباً قابل قبول می باشد و عکس هایی که از فاصله هایی نزدیک برداشته شده اند دارای کیفیت خوبی می باشند و اگر از روی یک نوشته که نزدیک به دوربین قرار گرفته است عکس بگیرید مطمئن باشید که عکسی با کیفیت و نوشته ای واضح در اختیار خواهید داشت ولی متأسفانه رنگ ها کمی غیرقابل تفکیک می باشند و باید اشاره کرد که عکس های گرفته شده با فلاش در محیط های تاریک بهتر از حدانتظار می باشند .
همچنین قادر به فیلم برداری نیز با این گوشی می باشید و فرمت های MPEG4 ، AVI و H.263 به منظور استفاده در MMS ها می باشند .
برای دو فرمت اول رزولوشن های ساپورت شده 320x240 و 176x144 و 128x96 می باشند و برای فرمت آخر رزولوشن ها 176x144 و 96x128 می باشد .
دوربین دوم گوشی نیز به منظور برقراری تماس های ویدئویی در نظر گرفته شده است که تصاویر گرفته شده توسط آن کمی گرد و بزرگتر از حد معمول به نظر می رسند ! با مقایسه این گوشی با گوشی های مشابه می توان گفت که برنامه دوربین به سرعت فعال می شود و وقفه ندارد ( و البته 4 ثانیه ) و از فشاردادن دکمه ی عکاسی تا ذخیره شدن عکس حدوداً 1 ثانیه وقت لازم دارید که زمان قابل قبولی می باشد .
عکس های گرفته شده در محیط خارج از اتاق در زیر نور خورشید خیلی جالب به نظر نمی رسند که البته با دست کاری تنظیمات عکاسی نامرئی ، می توانید کیفیت عکس را ارتقاء دهید ولی در محیط های بسته کیفیت عکس بسیار خوب می باشد .

قابلیت های این کامپیوتر جیبی به عنوان تلفن همراه :
حال به اصلی ترین مورد استفاده این گوشی یعنی ارتباطات تلفنی آن می رسیم که از نوع GSM/GPRS می باشد و باندهای فرکانسی 900 ، 1800 ، 1900 را پشتیبانی می کند ، همچنین "WCDMA" ، (UMTS) 2100 مگاهرتزی نیز توسط دستگاه ساپورت می شود .
در کل از 3 طریق می توان برای حرف زدن از این گوشی بهره جست اولی همانند دیگر گوشی ها ، گرفتن آن در دست و نگه داشتن گوشی در کنار گوش می باشد ؛ راه دیگر استفاده از آیفون گوشی می باشد و راه آخر که معمولاً طرفداران بیشتری دارد استفاده از هدست می باشد که نوع سیمی آن در جعبه گوشی موجود است و کاربر می تواند نوع بی سیم آن که همان هدست بلوتوث می باشد را تهیه نماید .

قابلیت های نرم افزاری و سیستم عامل :
سیستم عامل گوشی ویندوز مخصوص موبایل نسخه 5 می باشد و قابلیت های زیادی نسبت به نسخه های قبلی ویندوز موبایل در این نسخه گنجانیده شده است ، به این معنی که اکثر برنامه های پیشین ارتقاء یافته و برخی برنامه های جدید نیز به آن اضافه شده اند ، همانند : برنامه "Power Point" .
برنامه معروف "Clear Vue PDF" نیز به خاطر صفحه نمایشگر VGA گوشی بسیار جالب تر به نظر می رسد .
برنامه "MID let Manager" هم به منظور مدیریت فایل (برنامه ) های Java در این گوشی وجود دارد . خوشبختانه تعداد ویروس های مربوط به کامپیوترهای جیبی مبتنی به سیستم عامل ویندوز موبایل خیلی زیاد نمی باشد ولی با این حال برنامه ای با نام "Etrust Antivirus" برای محافظت دستگاه از ورود ویروس های مزاحم در نظر گرفته شده است که بعد از نصب و به روز کردن آن می توانید از این برنامه سودمند استفاده نمایید .
برنامه ی سودمند دیگری که در این گوشی وجود دارد ، برنامه "Phone Pad" می باشد که دارای یک صفحه کلید مجازی برای شماره گیری سریع و یا انتخاب سریع نام شخص از دفترچه تلفن می باشد و حتی قابلیت نوشتن SMS را نیز دارا می باشد ( یعنی در آن از شماره های 1 تا 9 به همراه کلید "O" نیز استفاده شده و مانند گوشی های معمولی مثلاً برای کلید 2 حروف c و b و a تعریف شده اند ) .

برنامه های موجود در CD این گوشی از این قرارند :
آخرین نسخه نرم افزار Active Sync ( نسخه 4 ) و البته نسخه ی قدیمی نرم افزار Out Look یعنی نسخه 2002 ، یک درایور مخصوص شناساندن گوشی به کامپیوتر به عنوان مودم از طریق USB و نسخه های نوشتاری راهنمای استفاده از گوشی به زبان انگلیسی .

جمع بندی نهایی و آزمایش کارآیی گوشی :
مطمئناً در اولین برخوردتان با این گوشی ، جذب ظاهر زیبای آن خواهید شد و اگر علاقه مندان به کامپیوترهای کیفی (Lap top) در حالتی که صفحه نمایشگر چرخانده شده و رو به روی صفحه کلید قرار دارد ، این گوشی را مشاهده نمایند حتماً این فکر به ذهن شان خطور می کند که با یک کامپیوتر کیفی کوچک ، زیبا و کارآمد رو به رو هستند . کیفیت بالای مونتاژ و سرهم بندی به همراه بدنه ی محکم و قوی نیز علاوه به زیبایی ظاهری باعث هر چه بهتر و کارآتر شدن گوشی می گردد .
البته باید خاطر نشان کرد که تمام نکاتی که مطالعه نمودید در عرض یک هفته آزمایش گوشی به دست آمده و مطمئناً استفاده بیشتر از این گوشی ، تجربیات جدیدی را درباره این گوشی نمایان خواهد کرد .
درباره پردازشگر 520 مگاهرتزی این گوشی باید عنوان نمود که در هر حال ضعیف تر از پردازشگر 624 مگاهرتزی می باشد و عدم استفاده از پردازشگر 624 مگاهرتزی در این گوشی سوال برانگیز می باشد .
در کل کارآیی پردازشگر گوشی کمی ناامید کننده به نظر می رسد ولی باید اشاره کرد هیچ گونه هنگ کردن و توقفی در اجرای برنامه ها به وجود نیامد ولی با این حال سیستم عامل گوشی کمی کند به نظر می رسد و فلسفه جدید به کار رفته به منظور استفاده از حافظه دستگاه در نسخه جدید ویندوز مخصوص موبایل ، حرف جدیدی برای ابراز ندارد که این موضوع هنگام پخش فایل های تصویری با رزولوشن VGA نمود پیدا می کند . این موضوع دقیقاً در جدول زیر قابل مشاهده است .

در هنگام اجرای بازی ها نیز ضعف پردازش تصویر وجود دارد و البته اساساً نباید اجرای بازی ها در این گوشی که رزولوشن آن VGA است با گوشی هایی که رزولوشن آن ها QVGA است مقایسه کرد زیرا این دو مربوط به دو فاز مختلف می باشند و ذات مقایسه کردن این دو با هم منصفانه نمی باشد ولی با این حال بازی هایی که برای رزولوشن VGA نیز طراحی گردیده اند به صورت ایده آل در این گوشی اجرا نمی شوند .
نمی توان دقیقاً به مقایسه این گوشی با هم ردیفان خود پداخت ، زیرا برخی بازی ها اصلاً روی نسخه ی جدید ویندوز مخصوص موبایل اجرا نمی شوند ولی برنامه های Office از جمله World ، Excel و Power Point به خوبی در این گوشی کار می کنند .
صفحه نمایشگر آن نیز یکی از بهترین صفحه نمایشگرهای موجود در بازار می باشد و رزولوشن VGA آن بسیار جالب و جذاب است تنها مشکل صفحه نمایشگر ، سرعت کند پردازش تصاویر می باشد که قبلاً به آن اشاره شده است .
درباره بلندگوهای گوشی هم باید گفت که کار آن ها بسیار عالی می باشد ولی ضعف آن وقتی است که صدا در بالاترین حد خود قرار دارد و نمی توان از این عیب به راحتی چشم پوشی کرد . کار باتری نیز خوب می باشد ولی اگر کاربری هستید که از گوشی استفاده زیادی می کنید بهتر است در طول روز شارژر همیشه همراه تان باشد !
در آخر باید اشاره کرد که این گوشی ، گوشی خوبی می باشد ولی باز هم عالی نیست . با در نظر گرفتن کارآیی ها و قیمت گران گوشی این سوال در ذهن ایجاد می شود که مخاطبان اصلی این گوشی چه کسانی هستند .

W sieco pojawiły się już informacje na temat kolejnego palmtopo-telefonu korporacji HTC, o kodowej nazwie Athena. Posiadać ma 3.5" ekran o rozdzielczości 320x240 punktów, 256MB pamięci ROM, 64MB RAMu, 400MHz procesor Samsunga, trójzakresowy moduł GSM/GPRS, wbudowany moduł Bluetooth, WiFi 802.11g, aparat cyfrowy o matrycy 2Mpix oraz gniazdo na karty SD/MMC. Co ciekawe urządzenie to posiadać będzie odłączaną klawiaturę QWERTY. Specyfikacje te mogą okazać się jednak nieprecyzyjne lub nawet błędne.
Miejmy nadzieję, że będzie przynajmniej obsługa EDGE a i ekran VGA by się przydał - szczególnie na 3.5" panelu. Z drugiej strony może to być jakiś low-endowy model, skoro nawet klawiatura jest odłączana?

Commentary: HTC was pre-announcing that they will think about ultra mobile PC market (UMPC) but everybody expected that it will be a device powered by UMPC version of Windows Vista. Instead HTC has come up with a device that looks like UMPC but is powered by Windows Mobile Pocket PC edition! HTC has already achieved scale big enough to make any device, but HTC Athena may be too big for a phone and too
underpowered (lack of Windows Vista) to be a genuine UMPC

Not yet released, information leaked from FCC. Probably planned for the next month' 3GSM conference. No details on their website too.
As far as we have heard, this is a succesor to their jasjar. Features \a thumb-keyboard and swivel touchscreen which lets you use the device in traditional PDA-mode or like a sub-notebook. Unlike the HTC Universal, the K-Jar also features an external LCD display for caller information, however this display doesn't makes use of Windows Mobile's auxiliary display functionality.
Other features are triband GSM/GPRS (neither support of GSM 850 MHz nor EDGE), Bluetooth 1.2 and W-LAN b.
Built-in memory is expected to be 128 MB ROM and 64 MB RAM which can be extended through miniSD memory cards. With the TI OMAP 730 CPU at 200 MHz, the device seems to be a little bit underpowered. The touchscreen supports QVGA and the camera is 2 megapixel.

According to PDAdb.net (http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=736&view=0), HTC will probably be having a device codenamed Nike towards the later half of this year. This device runs on Windows Mobile 6 Professional and sports a 2.6" QVGA screen as well as a numeric keypad in a slider form factor. It is powered by a Samsung S3C2443 processor at 400MHz and supports GSM/GPRS/UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA.

Other specifications include 128MB ROM, 64MB RAM, Bluetooth 2.0, 802.11b/g, FM Radio, a 2.8MP camera, a secondary VGA camera and a microSD slot. This is pretty interesting, especially the presence HSUPA support which is also known as 3.75G.

Check out the new Pocket PC from ASUS - the A639 - which features 1GB of Flash memory, GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi connectivity, and 64MB RAM, all on an Intel XScale 416MHz CPU. Looking at the setup, I can't help but be reminded of the Nokia N800, except this doesn't look quite as sleek and it runs off Windows Mobile. It was first spotted at the Windows Mobile booth at Computex, and there's so far no word of pricing or availability. It looks pretty nice though, and hopefully we'll see it approved by the FCC and on the markets soon!

Lenovo, in my mind more famous for taking on IBM's notebook business bring forth this rather classy looking WM phone... Unfortunately, as the Engadget Mobile clip says, it looks as if this is a China only release... Shame that...

Windows Mobile 6 Professional? Check. Brushed metal (or metal look, at least) body? Check. Dedicated Google button placed prominently front and center? Okay, sure, whatever. HSDPA? Eh, sorry folks, this one's a China-only special; GPRS still reigns supreme in those parts. Lenovo's not really known for its smartphone offerings in the western hemisphere, but on home turf, it's a different story -- this here ET600 is the latest example. Besides the rather comely exterior, you get a tri-band GSM radio sans 850 (no need for it over there), the usual QVGA display, 2 megapixel autofocus cam, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD expansion, and a 200MHz OMAP750 core.

Those who love smartphones will like the two new PDA phones from Gigabyte. The GSmart q60 and t600 will both run on Windows Mobile 6 and has some great features to its credit. For instance the GSmart q60 includes; support for WCDMA and HSDAP in addition to a QWERTY Keyboard. On the other hand the t600 boasts of fun features like; DVB-T digital TV, digital radio (DAB) and a VGA display. No word on pricing or availability.

Another HTC Smartphone to debut this year is the HTC Nike (HTC P5550). The price point of the handset has not been decided yet however it should see a September 2007 release. The HTC P5550 like all current HTC smartphones run on Windows Mobile 6 Professional.

The HTC Nike on a 400 MHz Samsung processor and includes a 2.6 " color transflective TFT display. It supports GSM and UMTS in addition to HSDPA . This one also support Wi-Fi and has a cool Slide-out QWERTY-type keyboard. Other features include; USB 2.0 client, 60Mbit/s, USB Series Mini-B (mini-USB) connector, Bluetooth 2.0, 2.8MP and a VGA camera.

Another new HTC phone to pop up on the world wide web is the HTC P6500 (HTC Sirius). The smartphone uses the Windows MObile 6 Pro as its OS and draws it juice from a 400 MHz Samsung processor. One also comes across a 3.5 inch TFT display and support for GSM,GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA.

The HTC P6500 supports Wi-Fi and other connectivity options include USB and Bluetooth. There is also a 1.9 MP shooter with a CMOS sensor and support for MMC, SD, SDIO memory cards. No word on pricing but expect it to be available by August, 2007.

Motorola's recently announced MC35 PDA phone isn't much of a slim phone, but it definitly has the functions to make up for its size. The phone is considered an all-in-one communication device that provides the voice and data applications expected for an office setting in the form of a durable and compact handheld device. Connectivity is surely not limited, with its GPS, Wifi, Bluetooth, and GSM/EDGE capabilities. Other features include a Intel XScale PXA270 416MHz processor, Windows Mobile 5.0, a camera, bar code reader, business applications, push e-mail, some sort of laptop functionality, and much more. Depending on configurations, The Motorola MC35 will sell around $640 to $750. Shipping is expected to begin in April.

Looks like there is yet another i-mate smartphone on the horizon. The i-mate Ultimate 9150 supports GSM900 / GSM1800 / GSM1900 / GSM850 and sports a cool clamshell design. The handset has been equipped with a TFT touchscreen and includes a Intel Bulverde 520 MHz processor for fast performance.

The Ultimate 9150 supports HSDPA and Wi-Fi and one also comes across Bluetooth and USB 2.0 connectivity. The phone runs on WMP 6 OS and some other features include ; SMS, MMS, Email, Instant Messaging, WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML (PocketIE), Stereo FM radio, Voice memo, Windows media player 10, File manager and Built-in handsfree. No word on pricing or availability.

Bits of news are trickling out about the LG PM800, a PocketPC-based PDA set to make its big splash after months of false starts, mainly in the form of, "hey, let's add this feature, too!" The latest addition is a TPEG transport for the PDA. TPEG, which stands for Transport Protocol Experts Group, lets the PM800 display GPS-obtained traffic information without any additional hardware. LG is also throwing in DMB TV support, yet another technology that has yet to catch on here.

LG is sort of dragging its heels with this one, so if it's ever actually released, we'll keep you posted. – Nicholas Deleon

There has been exhibited a new communicator UBiQUiO 503G by the Taiwanese company TechFaith Wireless at CTIA 2007 show. This device features a landscape-oriented display, a QWERTY-keyboard and Windows Mobile 6 OS.



The communicator is powered by Intel (Marvell) XScale 520 MHz processor, 64 MB RAM and 256 MB flash ROM expandable with microSD cards.

It can work under 3G networks (GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA), there are 2 cameras for this purpose – the main one with a 2-megapixel resolution and the VGA camera for video telephony.

In addition to cell networking there is the support of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The communicator is expected in the stores in June at the approximate price of $650.

HTC and the Canadian carrier Telus have come up with two new mobile devices running Windows Mobile operating system. Communicator HTC P4000 and smartphone HTC S720 come enabled with CDMA connectivity, but more importantly have support for high-speed data with EVDO Rev A, whose abilities will be used in the services that the carrier is planning to launch a bit later.

HTC P4000 is a CDMA-edition of HTC TyTN, which was a communicator with slide-out QWERTY-keyboard, 2,8-inch display with QVGA resolution, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity

Some sort of detailed informantion has become available on a new i-mate's device, which hasn’t been officially introduced yet. Judging by the preliminary info, i-mate JAMA is a budget communicator from the Urban series. By the way, the company hasn’t yet unveiled the Urban series, it is expected to comprise budget models against powerful devices of the Ultimate series.

More light shed on HTC CENSUS

Some more details on a new HTC's enterprise communicator have become available lately. In FCC documents it is mentioned as HTC CENSUS. The device is remarkable for its form-factor, or to be more precise, for its rectangular design, the fingerprints scanner and missing camera. Besides you can find the info on GPS navigation in the manual and notice a SiRFstarIII (GSC3LTif) chip on the photos of its hardware filling.

Orange SPV M700 3G PDA phone spied on

HTC's P3600 compact 3G PDA phone has gone on sale on the Orange mobile phone network as the SPV M700. Well, that portion of the network that extends across France, at the very least. Orange owner France Telecom is currently touting the Orange-branded handset, which has yet to appear over here.

The M700 sports quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity in addition to 3G. It has a 2.8in, 240 x 320, 65,53-colour display, a 2.1 megapixel camera and secondary, VGA camera for video calls. The handset has Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11b/g Wi-Fi on board, along with a MiniSD-expandable 64MB of memory. It's powered by a 400MHz Samsung processor.

It's show on the France Telecom website kitted out in white and silver, but we understand there's a black version, too, that's more in tune with the darkly hued SPV M600 released last spring - and which we reviewed here.

France Telecom claims the handset gets a four-hour talk-time from its 1,500mAh battery. Depending on the airtime package selected, the M700 will set French buyers back from €299

HTC doesn’t know the word QUIT. HTC Shift, HTC Advantage, Titan, Hermes. Ever since they decided to make products under their own brand name, they’ve taken a bold, aggressive course, and it has paid off. Now everyone knows High Tech Computer. They are no longer the background singer.

In typical fashion, HTC, is seeking Federal Approval for an even more radical, yet practical phone device. Code named Plato, after the brilliant writer, this new Smartphone looks like a pen, and is an Organic Light Emitting Device (OLED). The guts of the system will be stored in the "pen" area, and the user need simply unroll the device to use it. It will contain Bluetooth 2.0, 64MB Ram, TriBand UMTS/HSDPA, Quad Band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, WiFi, microSD, and a modified Bluetooth Laser Virtual Keyboard for easy text entry.

has managed to scoop X-series devices of i-mate’s 2007 roadmap. The series consists of 4 products: 2 communicators and 2 smartphones. All of them are powered by Samsung 400 MHz processor running on Windows Mobile 6. In addition to GSM/GPRS/EDGE the series supports HSDPA.

The first communicator called the Fox is expected in May. It features a phone keypad.

The second one, the Scully, is equipped with a larger touchscreen display. In the specs we come across the phone keypad, which is apparently hidden under the front panel. The release is set for May as well.

The Navajo smartphone comes with the same phone keypad, which is likely to rest inside.

And the last X-series smartphone called the Informer features a slideout QWERTY-keyboard and a numeric one on the front panel. It’s the only one in the series equipped with a camera (2-megapixel). Its display has a 2.2” diagonal and 240x320 pixels resolution. The release of the pair of smartphones will be launched in June.

All 4 devices support Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.0. Well, the info isn’t official to trust it fully, so let’s wait for the official announcement.

i-mate Odyssey: a UMTS communicator
Here comes another not announced device mentioned in the i-mate’s unofficial roadmap – the Odyssey communicator. The release was set for February 2007. The device is meant for both GSM (900/1800/1900)/EDGE and UMTS (1900/2100) networking. It’s not yet clear whether the source shared a trustworthy info, but we are likely to see the communicator in stores after a while.

The recent i-mate’s 2007 roadmap leakage is offering specs and an image of the communicator dubbed P30. Scheduled for January 2007 the release hasn’t taken place yet. According to the image below, this is the JAMA communicator previously rumored in news blocks. Eventually the communicator will be released, but somewhat later than planned.

The Net has recently got another portoin of information on the impending i-mate's offerings. PocketPT.net has released a pdf-file with spec sheets and images of the novelties and release dates. Naturally, these bits of data are by no means official.

It's remarkable that some devices mentioned in the document, hadn't been reported before, for example the so-called X-series is still a white spot in the company's range. Also this pdf features unannounced communicators going by the names of P30 and Odyssey, there were due out in early 2007, yet haven't made their debuts to date.

Though the document spotlights familiar products as well - digital photo-frames Momento, JAQ4 communicator (which was slotted for January), Ultimate line-up (launching in July). More information on these is available on the company's official site.

Any comment on the O2 Mini sucessor "HTC Wizard" 3 series WIZA100,WIZA110 and WIZA200, i know the processor is a bit slow running at TI OMAP 850 200 Mhz for WIZA200.
